The Ministry of Human Rights (MOHR) of Myanmar’s opposition National Unity Government (NUG) has renewed calls for international sanctions on jet fuel and financial resources reaching the military junta, as new tallies from the ministry show military attacks have killed 3,742 civilians across Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway regions since the 2021 coup attempt — even as aviation fuel shipments to the military continue reaching Myanmar through disguised trade routes.

Myanmar's ex-junta chief Min Aung Hlaing is expected in Thailand on Thursday, making his first trip there since becoming civilian leader as he seeks a return to the diplomatic fold for his pariah state.

The whistleblower group Justice For Myanmar (JFM), established in 2019 by a covert group of activists, called on the Thai government to stand with the people of Myanmar and reject regime leader Min Aung Hlaing’s “criminal network” before a scheduled meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul in Bangkok Aug. 6-7.
